Some armed men stormed the church and began shooting leaving many men and women who came to church for the early morning mass dead. Arsenal defeats Chelsea to win 2017 Community Shield FA Cup  winners,  Arsenal  beat Premier League champions,  Chelsea  to win the 2017  Community Shield  on penalties after Thibaut Courtois and  Alvaro Morata  missed spot-kicks in a shootout at  Wembley  Stadium. Chelsea goalkeeper  Courtois  took the second kick of the shootout, seeking to equalise but he blasted over before  Morata  fired wide. That gave Arsenal the initiative and  Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain  scored before  Olivier Giroud  netted the decisive penalty. With the victory, Arsenal celebrated and Chelsea looked on, just as they had done in May when the Gunners beat them in the FA Cup final.

The man who shot the gun in the Ozubulu church attack spoke Igbo, he is not a Boko Haram member- state police commissioner says The Anambra state Commissioner of Police, Garba Umar, has dismissed claims that the massacre at the St. Philip Catholic church in Ekwusigo local government area of the state earlier today was carried out by Boko Haram members. Some members of the state had earlier speculated that the attack was carried out by members of the terrorist group.  In an interview with newsmen, Garba who visited the scene after the attack that left eight persons dead, said the person who fired the gunshot, spoke igbo during the attack. Graphic: Generator fumes kill 7 members of a family in Rivers Seven members of a family lost their lives last Thursday due to suspected fumes from a generator set positioned close to the window of their home in Oyigbo, Rivers State. Neighbors who did not see any member of the family step out on Friday decided to make some inquiries by knocking on their door. No one answered their knocks. By Saturday, the smell emanating from their rooms led to the neighbors breaking the door leading to the apartment. The swollen corpses of the deceased family members were found inside the rooms in the house. They have been removed and deposited at the state morgue.

Igbo traders warn IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, to stay away from Lagos state Igbo leaders and traders in Lagos have warned the director of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, not to come to Lagos state to stage any of his rallies. Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, sacks all his Special Advisers Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has sacked all his Special Advisers. According to a statement released today by his Special Assistant to the Rivers State Governor on Electronic Media, Simeon Nwakaudu, only the Special Adviser on Religious Affairs, Bishop Winston Iwo retained his post. Recall that Wike on June 23rd, sacked his entire cabinet.
